FAQ's for Web Camera

Go Back to Web Camera page

  1. What video format is used? The live video streaming and News Studio recordings are Windows Media Format
  2. The player on the Web page does not seem to work. Why is that? The live video stream is using an Active X Windows Media player that is imbedded into your browser page. If this does not work then your security settings on your browser may be stopping this from working. Check the settings on your browser and ensure that Active X is allowed to run. If you have a Mac computer you will need to download a compatible player such as Flip4Mac from the www.microsoft.com web site.
  3. I can watch the News recordings, but not the live stream. Why? If the live video stream does not work, but the news recordings do, then you may have more success watching the live stream by using a stand alone player. Click HERE for the link to watch.
  4. Can I watch using a dial up connection? You require a broadband connection to access the live video and news recordings. If you have broadband, but the player buffers a lot and does not provide a continuous feed, then there is probably congestion either on your local network, or through your ISP. Congestion can be more obvious after 3pm until about 7pm. If this is a continual problem you should discuss this with your ISP.
  5. I can't see any of the video. Is there another reason why? The live stream is being sent out by an Internet protocol called MMS. In some businesses and firewalls this form of streaming is not allowed, so if you still cannot get the video, even using the link above, then that is probably the reason. Remember too that if you have a Mac, you will have to download Flip4mac or a stand alone player that can play Windows media format.
  6. On the live camera I can hear sound, but can' t see a picture. If you can hear sound, but not see a picture on the live camera then we are not sending pictures out at that time. The video will usually be there 6am to 8:30am and 4pm to 7pm Monday to Friday. . There may also be periods during those times when we cut the video off.
