Hutt mayor sure police will get fugitive

14/01/2007 4:12:03

The mayor of Hutt City says everyone will breathe a sigh of relief when police catch the remaining fugitive wanted in connection with the Graeme William Burton case.

Police are still looking for a man who allegedly threatened Wellington hospital staff while Burton was having his shot leg amputated.

Burton was shot and captured by police in Wainuiomata last weekend.

His alleged accomplice, Colleen Malloy, was caught in nearby Taita yesterday.

The man police are looking for is described as Caucasian, in his late twenties, just under six feet in height, with short ginger hair, and with three large scratches down one side of his face.

Hutt mayor David Ogden hopes the ordeal is not weighing on people's minds.

He says he is confident the police will track down the wanted man.

He says the area is a safe place to live in despite at least two fugitives being caught locally.

David Ogden says the matter continues to be the topic of conversation on the street.
